FIS

What is it?

FIS, also known as the International Ski Federation, is the governing body of multiple sports, such as alpine skiing, ski jumping, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding. In alpine ski racing, once you reach the age of 16, you have a choice to go into FIS or not. Going into FIS means that you will be competing on a more national circuit against a more serious, tougher competition. Most athletes decide not to go in this direction and either quit or stay on the U16 circuit for fun.
